This Roasted Banana Hojicha Latte tastes like something you’d order at a little specialty cafe, but it’s easy to make at home. Toasty hojicha meets homemade banana milk, and it’s all topped with a layer of salted vanilla sweet cream. Make it on a slow weekend morning when you want a treat.
Steps
Heat the oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lay the banana half on the sheet, cut side up, and dust the top with cinnamon. Roast for 20 minutes.
Let the banana cool for at least 5 minutes, then blend it with the milk just until smooth. Set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk the hojicha powder with the hot water until it turns frothy.
In another small bowl, combine the salted vanilla cream ingredients and whip with a handheld milk frother for 1 to 2 minutes, until thickened.
Put some ice in a tall glass, pour in the banana milk, then add the hojicha. Spoon the salted vanilla cream over the top.
