Vegan Savory Banana Fritters

These savory banana fritters get crispy outside and stay soft and creamy inside. Sweet banana and spicy jalapeño go great together, especially dipped in our easy sweet and sour sauce. Plus, they're vegan, gluten-free, and made in just one bowl.

Steps

  1. Peel the bananas, put them in a large bowl, and mash well with a fork. Add the rest of the fritter ingredients (except the cooking oil) and mix until the batter is smooth with no lumps.

  2. Heat a skillet over medium to medium-high heat and add a little oil. Once it's hot, drop in tablespoon-sized scoops of batter and flatten them slightly with the back of the spoon. Fill the pan without crowding it.

  3. Cook until the bottoms are golden brown, then flip and cook until the other side is browned too. Move the fritters to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, adding more oil as needed.

  4. For the dipping sauce, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar, and chili paste. Serve alongside the warm fritters.
