This banana flan with caramel comes together fast. Your Braun® MultiQuick does most of the work, blending everything until it's silky and smooth, so you end up with a rich, creamy dessert without much effort at all.

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, stir together the sugar, water, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, until it turns a golden brown. Pour the hot caramel into a flan mold, tilting it so the bottom is evenly covered (be careful, it's very hot). Set it aside to cool and harden.

  2. Put the bananas and eggs in a large bowl and blend with a hand blender for about a minute, until smooth. Add the sugar and milk and blend again until everything is combined and looks silky.

  3. Pour the mixture through a fine sieve straight into the caramel-lined mold.

  4. Fill a large saucepan with hot water, set a steaming rack inside, and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

  5. Close the flan mold tightly with its lid so no water gets in. Set it on the rack, cover the pan, and steam for 30 minutes, until the flan is set. Carefully lift out the mold and let it cool to room temperature, about an hour, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours until fully chilled.

  6. When you're ready to serve, flip the mold onto a plate and let the caramel run down over the flan. Cut into slices and serve.

Notes

Check Early: Start checking the flan around 25 minutes. Depending on the size of your mold, it can set sooner than you'd expect.

Cool It Slowly: Let the flan come to room temperature on the counter before it goes in the fridge. Cooling it gradually helps keep the custard from cracking.
